the sculpture garden

A sculpture garden for the University of Valencia | January 2014, Valencia, Spain
This project was done during my degree in Architecture at Universidad Politécnica de Valencia

The plot is located in the University of Valencia and opposite the Polytechnic University of Valencia. At this moment, it is a void space used as a parking. The project is a sculpture garden connected to both universities with the following uses: a restaurant – cafeteria, a playground for kids, different open-air itineraries to look at the 16 sculptures and an area of natural grandstand for performances.

the idea
There are different entries that allow connections with both universities and with the residential area.
A series of paths cross the park in order to facilitate the connections and to be able to walk around the garden and relax.

On the other hand, the park has been designed creating 2 types of barriers: a topographic barrier and a vegetal barrier to separate the park from the big avenue. This way, there are no views and no noise or traffic pollution that would disturb the garden’s atmosphere.
